While we were in West Yellowstone, we drove through Yellowstone Park and out the East Entrance (never been that way before). We drove to Cody, WY and spent the night in a motel. We’ve both wanted to see the town and the Buffalo Bill Museum complex there. My, what a place! They have five HUGE museums which are all connected and we got lost more than once. We walked until we could walk no more then went to dinner at Bubba’s (BBQ) and crashed at the motel. The next morning we went back for more and walked again until we could walk no more and it was time to head back to West Yellowstone before dark. We didn’t take many pictures there but we particularly enjoyed the Firearms Museum.
The door handle going into one of the small theaters in the Firearms Museum where we watched a video on the history of firearms.
They had some really interesting displays of famous firearms. Many had been used in famous battles, some had been used in movies and TV shows. Some belonged to famous people such as several which belonged to Presidents from long ago as well as recent Presidents. They had Civil War weapons and cannon. They had everything form old muzzle loaders to the most modern weapons used by today’s military. It was a very interesting place and we got lost again but finally found our way out.
We spent the larger part of two days in the museums and felt like we only saw about a tenth of what was there. It was all very interesting, but our feet gave out long before we wanted them to. During the drive back to West Yellowstone, it felt good to just not have to walk for a while.
