There were lots of grassy, wooded areas in Nauvoo but these Groves are the site of many historical church meetings. People would gather to the groves on hot summer Sundays with blankets and a picnic lunch and listen to the sermons.
There were walking paths through the groves with geezer benches and plaques noting historical events which took place in these groves
